Seasonal Chef

Availability: May - September

Overview:

To assist the executive chef in all gametes of running a professional kitchen. When the following actions and results are observed, your guests, your fellow associates, and your manager(s) will know this about you:

Your Guests will observe:

  • That all food production; including that used for restaurant, group meals, functions, associate dining is of the utmost quality, prepared in a clean and sanitary environment.
  • That when encountered by guests and staff, they will always receive a friendly smile and warm welcome from you.
  • That if they have any questions regarding the Hotel or its services, you can provide answers and assistance, or direct them to someone you know who can help them.

Your Fellow Associates and Manager(s) will observe:

  • That you assure that food preparation is precise, economical, and technically correct to Executive Chefs standards and practices.
  • That all kitchen associates are well trained and knowledgeable about their specific job requirements.
  • That your interaction with all associates is respectful at all times.
  • That all kitchen staff is trained efficiently with standardized recipes and presentations.
  • That you share extensive knowledge of preparing food from scratch.
  • That you oversee a proper rotation of all prepared foods for all meal periods.
  • That you communicate expectations with kitchen and service staff to ensure excellent customer service and expectations.
  • That you ensure proper respect, sanitation, and handling of food and equipment.
  • That you are properly prepped for each shift and that you never 86 any item if product is in house.
  • That all kitchen work areas are kept clean and sanitized at all times.
  • That consistency and accuracy are exemplified through all food preparation based on recipe utilization.
  • That you work closely with executive chef and restaurant managers to create and maintain proper flow and guest satisfaction.
  • That you take on other duties as assigned.
  • That you are punctual, reliable and always punch in on time for your scheduled shifts
  • That you always follow the Hotel’s requirements and standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • That you always arrive to work wearing your uniform and name tag.
  • That your uniform attire is always clean, not wrinkled or torn, and in good condition.
  • That you always exhibit a friendly, kind, professional and cooperative attitude.
  • That you always obtain and achieve your daily goals as set by your Manager(s).
  • That you can work well and efficiently under pressure.
  • That you always clock in and out properly for your lunch break.
  • That you are an excellent “Team” member, always ready to assist your fellow associates to achieve their daily goals, no matter their specific duties and assignments.
  • That you always complete your shift and duties on time with your schedule.
  • That you always punch out before you leave.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of kitchen management experience.
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Knowledge of proper and up to date food handling and health standards. (Alaska Food Worker Card or Serv Safe)
  • Ability to operate standard equipment.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50 lb. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work as a team member with kitchen and service staff.
  • Bending and lifting required

Uniform

  • Jackets, pants, apron, and hat provided.
  • Associate needs to provide comfortable black non-skid closed toe black shoes, black socks, and white undershirts
  • Associate is responsible to wash and iron the uniform
  • Associate must look sharp and be clean upon arrival to shift


NOTICE:

The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
