Qualifications:
Required:


  • Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification.

Preferred:


  • IV Therapy Certification.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations: Covid-19, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, TB, HepB, Flu.

Overview:


Required Skills and Experience:


  • Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program with a current license/permit in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) or Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC).
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • LVNs must be IV Therapy Certified.

Important Information:


  • Full-Time positions available for 4 Nights.
  • Clearance documents will be provided during the Review stage.
  • Rotating 4:3 schedule.

Additional Job Details:


  • Provide nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic/preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care and safety.
  • Interpret physicians orders and administer prescribed medication.
  • Assist physicians with sick call when present.
  • Apply surgical dressings and bandages and provide emergency first aid care.
  • Check and record vital signs, instruct inmates on discharge planning, and observe signs and symptoms during sick calls.
  • Report reactions to treatments/medications and changes in inmates conditions.
  • May instruct and supervise correctional staff on inmate health care needs.
  • Consult with supervisor on problem cases, manage supplies, and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Provide health care education to inmates.
