Job Description
CSI Sands (N.E.) (CSI) offers expertise in materials engineering including, concrete, asphaltic concrete, rail ballast, sand and various construction related materials and supply. We provide a full range of aggregate and resource materials production services and are equipped to handle every phase of the materials engineering process, from initial exploration to delivery of the end-product.
Currently, we are looking to hire a Lab Technician to complete our team in Brevort, Michigan.
This will be a full time, hourly position reporting to the Plant Manager at the CSI plant. The successful candidate will be one that enjoys a fast-paced, multi-tasking, friendly environment. CSI offers a competitive and comprehensive wage and benefits package.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities:
- Take sand samples at various locations in the plant facility,
- Complete sieve analysis of all plant operational sand samples,
- Take water samples at various locations in the plant facility,
- Complete analysis of all water samples taken at the facility,
- Ensure sample containers are properly labeled and ready for sampling of all boat loads,
- Complete analysis of all boat load shipments,
- Complete all calibration testing on required lab equipment,
- Report to Facility Manager and Shift Supervisors all Quality Control Issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees for working in the lab,
- Complete testing on various samples from new raw material sources as needed.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret schematics of the plant process,
- Communicating effectively with co-workers, subordinates, and superiors,
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skill required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to complete Quality Control sampling required in all plant areas
- Basic mechanic skills needed to open and close all sampling points,
- Manual dexterity required for operating lab equipment and computers.
License Requirements:
The position requires the possession and maintenance of a valid Michigan driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must possess mobility to work in an operating industrial minerals plant,
- Must be able to use standard office equipment including a computer,
- Must be able to read materials in print and on a computer screen,
- Must be able to communicate in person, over the telephone and radio,
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
