Plasman, Fort Payne Manufacturing - 403 Airport Rd W, Fort Payne, AL 35968 is immediately seeking a new member to join our team as:

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for coordination of activities associated with lean manufacturing to achieve the most effective and efficient way to manufacture products at high quality and reliable levels in a consistent basis. The Manufacturing Engineer is also to assist Program Engineering in activities relating to new program launches and engineering changes, as required at A.P. Plasman Inc./Plasman Corp LLC. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the implementation of new plant projects.
  • Manage New Launch Customer Portals.
  • Manage Pre-launch production builds for assigned plant programs.
  • Responsible for managing new launch inventories for new programs.
  • Responsible for managing ECNs for assigned plant programs.
  • Participate in R&D design feasibility studies.
  • Manage launch activities such as run at rate, process development and all pre-production.
  • Develop cell and plant layouts and implement.
  • Optimize manufacturing operations thru analytical studies of the current operating parameters, such as, production methods and processes on a continuous basis.
  • Analyze, thru CAD and other systems, utilization, layout, workflow and shop floor inventory control and initiate appropriate activities to improve. I.E 5s etc.
  • Participate in a cross-functional internal continuous improvement activities and document aspects of R&D for claiming purposes.
  • Responsible for paint color development in coordination with paint and quality.
  • Commission, sign off and implement equipment for secondary operations.
  • Working in compliance with Quality Business Operating Systems and health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Oversee the design, purchase, installation and operation of all plant equipment as required
  • Oversee the design, development, validation and purchase of all racks from prototype to production stages
  • Responsible for maintaining the rack preventative maintenance system (TEC, TIL, FPP)
  • Promote an atmosphere of team work at all times
  • Ensure that a clean and safe work environment is always maintained
  • Complete any other duties as assigned
  • Assist in any way to any employee, necessary to promote a successful operation emphasizing customer satisfaction
  • Ensure that all employees receive proper training and understand all job tasks
  • Responsible for complying with the Company Health & Safety Program including Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, regulations, standards and Company Health & Safety policies.

EDUCATION:

  • Certified Engineering Technologist professional designation or higher

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have 4-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering environment, automation.
  • Must have the ability to operate a CAD system (preferably CADKEY or Keycreator)
  • Ability to perform well in high pressure situations
  • Meets expectation rating (rating score of 2 or 3) in all applicable Competencies as defined in the Performance Management Process
  • Capable of independent travel
  • Access to reliable transportation
