Job Summary:
The Lead Laboratory Medical Technologist will assist in planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies, activities, and staff of the laboratory department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.

Job Summary:
The Lead Laboratory Medical Technologist will assist in planning, leading, directing, developing, and coordinating the policies, activities, and staff of the laboratory department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and EFM policies.
- Adheres strictly to EFM departmental standards and policies, including state and federal regulations.
- Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
- Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Promotes an environment filled with focusing on patient care, teamwork, and constant professionalism.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department; plans and manages priorities, provides technical assistance, oversees staff schedules, monitors quality of work, monitors team projects, mentors staff, provides constructive feedback, oversees staff training, ensures quality improvement, provides leadership feedback on staff performance, and assists with goal setting for the team.
- Responsible for performing complex laboratory procedures and tests in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, hematology, immunology and microbiology.
- Troubleshoots, monitors, and screens devices, tests and procedures, recognizing irregularities, and making corrections to ensure quality. Evaluates specimens for testing, utilizes appropriate criteria and upholds established performance standards.
- Performs quality assurance testing, routine calibration and ensures optimal performance, on all tools and equipment.
- Performs waived, moderate and high complexity laboratory tests
- Apply criteria for testing, and analyzing of entire process from preparation, conducting test, functioning of devices and procedures to ensure quality test results.
- Consults with clinicians, supervisors and staff as appropriate on test results, requirements and testing protocols
- Maintains appropriate records for specimens, tests and data.
- EHR proficient Problem solves with a fair and team-minded approach and ensures that workflows remain consistent and fluid.
- Work respectfully and collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree Required: Medical Technology or Biological Science or an equivalent related science.
- Minimum 3 years clinical experience performing high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory department
- Knowledge of specimen collection, preparation, and test requirements and factors affecting test interpretation in responding to inquiries Mathematical ability to calculate fractions, percentages, ratios, proportion measurements and apply practical algebra
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Requires long hours of standing and moving.
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted)
- The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 - 35 pounds at times.
