Superintendent - Electrical & Stationary Maintenance


Location:

Stillwater Mine - Nye, MT

Schedule:

5x2, 4x3 - 9-hour days


Job Responsibilities and Duties:

At Sibanye-Stillwater, the Superintendent is responsible for aspects within the department overseen at the Stillwater or East Boulder Mine. This position will have oversight of the Electrical and Stationary Maintenance departments. Ensuring a safe and environmentally excellent setting for the Electrical and Stationary Maintenance group is paramount to the success of Sibanye-Stillwater.


The Electrical and Stationary Maintenance Superintendent's primary duties are:

Operational Leadership:

  • Fosters an inclusive, engaged workplace culture while providing the leadership that promotes continuously exploring new technologies to improve worker safety and efficiencies throughout the operation.
  • Represents Sibanye-Stillwater's values to all employees.
  • Provide leadership to the group in safety, environmental protection, and productive mine operations.
  • Work with the site senior leadership team in continuing the development of a focused and engaged culture throughout the organization.
  • Be pro-active in all aspects of the operations; safety, environment, effective and efficient utilization of resources, productivity, improvement initiatives, and foster teamwork across the site.
  • Demonstrate positive two-way verbal and written communication.

Safety and Environmental Compliance:

  • Actively support and contribute to the development of Safety and Health Management, Environmental systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive timely and consistent auditing processes with appropriate follow up.

Team Management:

  • Coordinates resources and efforts to compliment other areas in realizing overall mine goals.
  • Coach and mentor the General Foreman team and other site leaders in accordance with Sibanye-Stillwater leadership qualities.
  • Foster cooperation, collaboration, and innovation to ensure that realistic production and development goals are being set and met. Ensure that resource value is being maximized.
  • Oversees multiple working groups and takes appropriate action in supporting a positive and inclusive work environment as well as professionally addressing behaviors that don't align with Sibanye-Stillwater's core values.
  • Maintain a productive labor relations environment and promote fail and consistent employment practices.
  • Demonstrate fair and consistent administration of Sibanye-Stillwater policies and procedures and support the General Foreman in dealing with employee concerns.
  • Develop and communicate site goals and initiatives in cooperation with other site leaders.
  • Proficiency in mine systems, cost management, and productivity enhancement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Budget and Cost Control:

  • Achieving operational objectives, planning, and execution of quality mine support and cost targets.
  • Establish and execute the three months to two-year planning strategies that support the growth of the operation.

Technical Oversight:

  • Develop and execute strategic workforce planning and organizational development.
  • Lead team to maximum maintenance goals through safely optimizing mine systems, planning, and procedures.
  • Project management experience including maintaining a budget, intra-departmental resource coordination, timeline for delivery, etc.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of the capital budget.
  • Define, establish, and set Key Performance Indices (KPIs) and hold groups accountable to KPIs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to coach and mentor others, both peers and subordinates.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and execute work.
  • Support the General Foremen executing the one week to three-month plan.
  • Identify and define high performers within the group and ensure training and development of these salary employees for future promotional roles.

Demonstrable experience and skills include:

  • Experienced in PC based software programs, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and ERP software (Oracle/JDE or equivalent).
  • Understanding and the application of MSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Independent working habits.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or its equivalent from a recognized institution or meet these standards through proven experience and skillsets.
  • Minimum ten years of relevant experience, with a mix of mine maintenance and project background.
  • Experience with underground mining methods, narrow vein preferred.
