  • Quote, design, release, and support to manufacturing of all standard products, options, and customer-specific orders. Directly responsible for the cost of quality and ensuring that the design intent is transferred into a quality product resolving manufacturing and final test issues quickly to meet the customer demand rate and business objectives.
  • Plans and prioritizes daily tasks without supervision to meet established deadlines. Ability to resolve complex questions related to engineering work. Possesses broad product knowledge and engineering ability to accurately quote customer order requests. Direct interface with customers with the authority to make decisions that can affect business profitability. Provides leadership within the engineering group to ensure group goals are achieved. The position is guided by corporate policies and procedures and by widely accepted industry standards.
  • BSEE or BSEET engineering degree and 10 years of work-related experience in the electrical/electronic engineering discipline. Excellent understanding of electrical theory and drive technology with the ability to act as a business consultant for interfacing drive I/O logic with human-machine interface (HMI).
  • Excellent working knowledge of electrical and mechanical industry codes and how they relate to drive and motion technology. Acts as the in-house expert regarding UL certification.
  • Project management skills with 5 years of experience managing all aspects of a project.
  • Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, and resolve issues expeditiously to meet the customer demand rate.
  • Excellent computer skills with a fundamental understanding of Microsoft suite of programs.
  • Ability to create mechanical drawings, engineering schematics, and assembly drawings using the business CAD software package.
  • Proven excellent written and speaking communication skills to effectively communicate with associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Creates product specifications and releases all standard configured and engineered order documentation to manufacturing using the latest industry standards.
  • Manages projects with the ability to delegate tasks, determine project flow, define critical paths, and resolve issues that may impede achieving project deadlines.
  • Authorizes changes to mechanical drawings and implements changes using the business system design tools.
  • Consults investigates, and approves changes to engineering documentation when manufacturing issues arise to ensure on-time delivery of customer products.
  • Review engineering associates' work for accuracy before releasing documentation. Prepares accurate order quotes and submits documentation to management for approval.
  • Provides technical expertise for the product and specific applications. Instructs and trains engineering associates and other associates from different departments as required by the needs of the business.
  • Participates in new product design beginning with the design concept and final product specification. Authority to make decisions that can affect product integrity and understand the cost of quality concept.
  • Evaluates component deviation requests for fit form, and functional characteristics.
  • Assists purchasing with vendor evaluations and qualifications.
  • Controls and processes customer change requests relevant to order engineering documentation.
  • Coordinates and conducts with the quality manager random UL compliance checks. Reviews UL site inspection reports and resolves non-conformance issues by implementing corrective action.
  • Schedules orders using the order engineering tracking spreadsheet and monitors release dates out of engineering. Proactively informs management of possible delays in order release.
