Job Title: Seasonal Housekeeping

Department: Hospitality

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

Start Date: Varies

Salary: $15.00

Summary:

This is a seasonal position with the potential to be a year-round position within the Hospitality Department with varying hours based on hotel occupancy; housekeeping will typically work daytime hours. We provide flexible scheduling with proper notification. Training is provided upon hire. Housekeepers report directly to the Housekeeping Supervisor or General Manager in the absence of supervisor.

Ideal candidate availability is preferred from mid-April through mid-October. Lakeside Association provides an opportunity for affordable dorm housing in a camp environment. Candidates are physically active and high energy persons with a positive, service-minded attitude who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The cleanliness of our hotels, public spaces, grounds, group housing, and event spaces is critical for the first impression on what our guests will see and experience at Lakeside Chautauqua. The individual will work in a demanding environment as part of a team that provides superior guest satisfaction and exceptional cleanliness standards.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, this individual must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, education, skill and/or ability required.

This individual must uphold Lakeside Association Mission Statement, personally always representing its goals and values while on the Lakeside Chautauqua grounds and creating a pleasant and memorable stay for our guests. This individual must also uphold Lakeside Association four pillars of religion, education, cultural arts, and recreation by creating a department that welcomes all people to gather and participate in lifelong learning opportunities.

Essential Duties Include, but are Not Limited To:

  • Follow all written and verbal detailed directions from Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Uphold the highest quality cleaning standards.
  • Show attention to detail in cleaning of hotel rooms and public areas as directed.
  • Display effective time management in the performance of duties.
  • Utilize room inspection program with checklists.
  • Show ability to work independently when called upon to do so.
  • Take care of guests’ needs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to use cleaning and sanitizing products; protective equipment provided if needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment always, including housekeeping carts.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

High school graduates are preferred, students aged sixteen or older may apply; minors may be required to obtain a work permit. Person must be able to work with the public and other employees.


Language Skills

The ability to completely understand, read, analyze, and correspond to reports. The ability to effectively present information and communicate professionally with department managers, board members, clients, and the public.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, stand, walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop or kneel; talk, hear, and smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to (50) fifty pounds. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move more than fifty (50) pounds.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet, cold, humid, and hot conditions and may be required to work outdoors.
  • There is occasionally the requirement to move mechanical parts, properly handle toxic or caustic chemicals; there can be a risk of electrical hazards and the employee must use extreme caution and use appropriate safety procedures when necessary.
