Test Technician

Position Summary:

The Airflow Test Engineer will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to airflow/thermal testing. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and PTC systems, as well as experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and data storage. The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate effectively with engineers and other stakeholders. The ability to design, fabricate, and test all types of airflow distribution housings is also required. The candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• The responsibilities for the position of Test Technician will include, but not limited to:
• Prepare, build, and manage a showcase airflow lab for testing to SAE standards.
• Assist in the Design and fabrication of airflow distribution test stands and airflow/thermal test stands.
• Assist the airflow group in setting up the airflow test bench including modifications & digital automation.
• Assist airflow group in airflow/thermal research and development activities.
• Support HVAC thermal development activities.
• Operate and maintain Test Equipment in the Test Lab.
• Conduct HVAC product and component testing for product validation to customers’ standards. Assembly and disassembly of HVAC modules.
• Support new product design & development activities, including benchmarking.
• Support analysis of test data and follow test lab procedures.
• Handle day-to-day test lab and project responsibilities, communicate scheduling of testing, maintenance of test logbooks, and maintenance of test lab equipment.
• Participate in prototype builds and VA/VE activities. Apply knowledge and experience of airflow testing and electronics to the development and testing of HVAC components.
• Responsible for keeping up to date with all Quality Management System(s) changes within the organization.

Minimum Requirements

• 3 years of experience running test equipment
  • Ability to follow engineering direction to produce meaningful data.
  • Ability to learn and understand the controls of test equipment.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and data collection
  • Experience analyzing test results for accuracy and conclusions against objectives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Self-motivation to learn, seek help when needed, and to set goals and achieve objectives.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with critical deadlines.
