Job Summary: The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the administrative support of the day-to-day human resources operations, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, documentation management, benefits administration, and employment law compliance.

Job Duties:

  • Recruitment: Human Resources Coordinators develop recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels. They meet with supervisors to develop specific recruiting plans. Human Resources Coordinators posts job ads and schedule and attend job/career fairs to generate qualified applicants. They provide information on company operations and job opportunities to potential applicants. Human Resources Coordinators provide initial interview and refer qualified applicants to hiring manager for second interview.
  • Onboarding: Human Resources Coordinators extend job offers to qualified applicants and set compensation based on wage scale. After offer is accepted, Human Resources Coordinators conduct reference and background checks and coordinate pre-employment health screen. They prepare new-hire paperwork and conduct new-employee orientation. Human Resources Coordinators complete Forms I-9, verify I-9 documentation, and maintain I-9 files.
  • Employee Relations: Human Resources Coordinators assist employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Training: Human Resources Coordinators ensure compliance with training requirements for all employees and schedule employees for necessary training.
  • Documentation Management: Human Resources Coordinators maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements. They perform HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance. Human Resources Coordinators maintain confidential personnel files and personnel actions and keep employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in timely fashion. Human Resources Coordinators conduct routine audits of HRIS and personnel files to ensure compliance.
  • Benefits Administration: Human Resources Coordinators perform benefits administration, including coordinating insurance enrollments/terminations, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Compliance with Federal and State Regulations: Human Resources Coordinators maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations. They maintain current knowledge of employment law such as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Organizational Participation: Human Resources Coordinators are familiar with the organizational mission, vision and values.
  • Documentation: Human Resources Coordinators are aware of the requirements for documentation in their organization and are able to manage these requirements efficiently.
  • Professionalism: Human Resources Coordinators pursue knowledge and information necessary to perform job duties. They follow ethical practices and maintain confidentiality. Human Resources Coordinators build professional relationships with supervisors and employees.
