DIRECT HIRE

Summary                                                                                                                                                                                

Responsible for operating the machine capabilities of the shop, including basic maintenance of equipment, machines and tools in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale and teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section.

 

This is a manual labor, physically intensive position. All employees of Pump Group Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following list includes essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Perform all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by Department, Division and Pump Group Inc. Management and Board of Directors.

 

§  Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches.

 

§  Store and care for all tools, spare parts, materials and supplies.

 

§  Follow all safety regulations, policies, principles and procedures.

 

§  Use proper Personal Protective Equipment.

 

§  Responsible for maintenance of machine shop equipment including manual lathe, vertical mill, radial arm, drill press, other tooling mechanisms and supporting equipment (including company vehicles, forklift, etc) before, during and after shift. This includes ensuring proper lubrication and tooling mechanisms. Oversee maintenance of electrical mechanisms within equipment.

 

§  Take care during operations to leave shop area and equipment in clean, operable condition. Immediately report all maintenance repair issues to shop manager

 

§  Operate lathe including radial arm and drill to machine parts within close tolerances.

 

§  Maintain records of work performed including drawings or instructions on how to recreate machined parts. Document in files and update log book on a daily basis.

 

§  Perform inspections as directed by shop foreman.

 

§  Measure shafts and parts to accurately machine what is required.

 

§  Assist with review of inspection sheets as directed by shop manager.

 

§  Consistently maintain a keen awareness of situation and surroundings to ensure safety of self and team members, particularly around rotating equipment.

 

§  Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and mechanical drawings.

 

§  Create solutions to problems using interpretation and physical inspection.

 

§  Assist the lead pump mechanics with tearing down and rebuilding pumps when not otherwise occupied machining parts.

 

§  When moving equipment (i.e. fork lift), observe job site and assist as needed to prevent damage and destruction of equipment or property.

 

§  Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.

 

§  If employee maintains a commercial driver’s license, complete driver vehicle inspection reports before and after operating commercially regulated vehicles. Submit inspection reports after each shift. It is the employee’s responsibility to review weight limits and monitor hours of service for compliance.

 

§  Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.

 

§  Perform basic housekeeping including but not limited to disposing of garbage and organizing job site, crew truck and employee lockers before, during and after shift. This includes keeping the tool box organized.

 

§  Must be available by phone and be readily available to report to work as needed at all times. 

 

§  Performs other duties as assigned, which may include working in another department as needed.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                 

·        High School Diploma, GED equivalent or applicable experience.

·        3 years of experience or demonstrated proficiency with technical concepts as a manual machinist.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

·        Valid Texas Driver’s License.

·        Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred.

 

Language Skills                                                           

·        Ability to speak, write, read and understand English required for basic job function.

·        Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals and standards. 

·        Ability to document production steps including lists, records and files on parts machin       ed, tools and equipment.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                   

·        Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals in standard and metric units.

·        Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations with and without a calculator.

·        Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry to practical situations.

·        Ability to read a tape measure.

 

Special Equipment Skills                                                          

Ability to develop a working knowledge of basic analytical equipment including:

·        Micrometer

·        Caliper

 

Experience operating a forklift and welding machine are preferred.
