About the Role:

At Hood Container Corporation, we’re searching for a corrugator supervisor at our Chicago, IL plant. This role is responsible for managing employees to meet manufacturing and production schedules, providing overall direction to production floor employees, including production, scheduling, performance management, training and other related areas, striving to improve overall operational efficiencies during the designated shift. This role is responsible for coordinating production operations and maintaining effective quality procedures and safety regulations for the facility. The ideal candidates must be a self-driven individual with a passion for excellence in Safety, People Development, Manufacturing, and Customer Focus. Must provide leadership on the operating floor and striving for compliance in safety, health, environmental, and quality. Also responsible for coaching, training, and developing operations personnel in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and technical and interpersonal communication skills; addressing key issues and concerns; and interacting with employees from other departments to ensure quality and on-time production. Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies; investigate incidents and participate in resolution of causes Ensure best practices are being followed for minimization of waste at machine centers. Track continuous improvement opportunities where performance issues are apparent and provide leadership/action plans for gap closure. Strictly adhere to plant safety and housekeeping efforts. Identify repairs needed at machine centers and create work requests for completion; follow up as required. Plan, assign and direct work for all hourly production employees; appraise performance and provide feedback as needed; assist in resolving complaints; hold employees accountable as needed; communicate issues and results on a daily basis. Must possess problem solving/root cause analysis skills; leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate teams to exceed expectation; communication, planning and organization skills; sense of urgency and accountability; customer focus; ability to work effectively in cross-functional team environment.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Develops short and long-term courses of action that support the organization's overall vision and mission; balances business, technical, and operational issues when determining a strategy; identifies problems with current strategies and suggests ways to resolve them.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the shift with constant emphasis on safety, quality, waste, delivery, and cost.
  • Motivate employees to keep operations running smoothly and safely.
  • Maintain agility, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one’s approach to achieve desired results; responds quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated information.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and enforce control procedures, recommending improvements to the Plant Manager, as appropriate.

What it Takes:

  • Required: High School diploma or G.E.D. with equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Corrugated industry experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work in high temperature & humidity conditions while wearing proper PPE including, but not limited to, hearing protection, steel toe shoes and safety glasses.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
