Description

The RN Care Coordinator applies knowledge to lead improvement processes activities for the trauma population through the review of patient's charts, quality indicators, analysis and reporting in the Trauma Committee. This role also develops and implements injury prevention activities as indicated by the Providence trauma population and our local epidemiological data. Assists the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Program Medical Director to monitor and coordinate all aspects of the Trauma Service Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program and the Trauma Injury Prevention program. Responsible for clinical data abstraction from the medical records of trauma patients for the purposes of quality improvement. Assists in the coordination and delivery of trauma education for clinicians involved in the care of the trauma patient, including EMS, Emergency, and Acute Care. Assists in the coordination of trauma care for patients throughout their hospitalization.

Required qualifications:

  • California Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months (180 days) of hire
  • 3 years of Trauma, emergency or critical care experience within a health care organization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Coursework/Training: ICD-10, Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) scoring course.
  • Coursework/Training: American Trauma Society Basic Trauma Registrar course.
  • Recent experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma nursing.
  • Experience with collector software and the State Trauma Registry.
  • Experience with chart audits.
