The Windham Southwest Supervisory Union (WSWSU) is seeking a passionate and experienced Special Education Director to join our team!
About the WSWSU:
WSWSU serves the vibrant munities of Wilmington, Stamford, and Stratton in southern Vermont. We are a Pre-K to 12 district mitted to providing a nurturing and challenging educational environment for all students.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated leader to oversee our Special Education Department for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year (until June 16th, 2024). This is a likely FT position.
The Special Education Director will:
- Provide leadership and direction for the Special Education Department, ensuring pliance with state and federal regulations.
- Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers to create inclusive learning environments.
- Support professional development for special education staff.
- Advocate for and represent the needs of students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Vermont Special Education Director licensure (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role within Special Education.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent munication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A mitment to equity and inclusion.
