Member Advocate
In support of Indiana Medicaid member engagement for the Hoosier Care Connect and Indiana PathWays for Aging programs, the ideal candidate will be a currently certified Community Health Worker or willing to obtain certification during first month of service. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. This role will represent UnitedHealthcare Community Plan while educating and informing enrolled members on a variety of topics related to health, well-being, and navigation of the health care system.
  • Represent United Healthcare Community Plan by promoting its core values and services
  • Follow detailed policies and procedures while completing new member health needs screenings, thoroughly documenting interactions with members and the friends or family members who support them
  • Conduct other outbound telephonic campaigns as directed
  • Educate and inform people of diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Collaborate across the team and with health plan leadership to share barrriers and best practices that impact the lives of our members

Required Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of education and/or experience in a customer-facing role
  • Indiana resident with a valid Indiana driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Travel up to 25% of the time within 50 miles of residence, attending community-based meetings and large scale member events
  • Willing to work a flexible 40-hour week, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-directed and independent in completing tasks
  • Professional communication skills in both verbal and written form
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible to adjust job responsibilities as the position evolves

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SalesForce experience
  • Advanced skill set working with Excel (sorting, filtering, pivot tables)
  • Experience in working with the following populations:
    • Individuals who are aged, blind, or disabled
    • People of diverse backgrounds
    • Health professionals and providers
    • Managed Care Entities and/or commercial health insurance
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Burmese, Arabic, or French Creole
