Job Summary:

Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients. Operates radioscopic equipment. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nuclear medicine technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Two years' leadership experience: Preferred
  • Three years' nuclear medicine experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • State Nuclear Medicine License: Required in CA and HI
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine OR Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist: Required in CA and OR
  • Venipuncture certification: Required in CA and HI
  • State Nuclear Med Tech (SNMT): Required

Facility Specific License/Certifications:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or National Nuclear Med Tech (NMTCB): Required

Essential Functions:

  • Assigns personnel to particular patients and patient care activities based on independent assessment of effective skill and ability utilization, while working to equalize assigned personnel work load.
  • Prepares patient and radioactive isotopes for administration and performs procedures.
  • Screens and recommends candidates for hire, promotion, discipline and other administrative actions.
  • Reviews daily schedule and assigns staffing, equipment and supplies accordingly. Prioritizes emergent procedures, minimizes patient waits and optimizes turn-around times.
  • Maintains accurate records, files and billing information. Ensures the integrity of patient data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
