Summary:

Founded by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is a 40-year-old aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 40-year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.

We are seeking a passionate Senior Principal Financial Analyst to join our program management team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and reporting to our internal and external stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze and monitor costs, identifying opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, summarizing key findings and trends.
  • Variance Analysis: Investigate and explain variances between actual and budgeted/forecasted financial results.
  • Strategic Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis and insights.
  • Risk Management: Assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ad hoc Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as required.
  • Accurate and timely financial reports and analyses.
  • Budgets, forecasts, and financial models that guide decision-making.
  • Identification of cost-saving opportunities and recommendations for improvement.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
  • Clear and insightful variance analysis reports.
  • Mitigation strategies for identified financial risks.
  • Supporting AOP, LRSP and award plan deliverables.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CFA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial analysis experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial software (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with earned value management reporting (EVMS)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance, Experience working in an SAP environment.

  • Occasional exposure to chemical vapors and/or fumes in low non-hazardous concentration
  • Potential to climb up and down steps on a daily
  • Must be able to read and understand SDS
