Metro Community Development is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to manage our home improvement grant programs serving low-income homeowners primarily in Flint and Genesee County. This program provides grant assistance to qualified homeowners to fund deferred maintenance repairs, improve in-home accessibility, and remove health and safety hazards.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing several home repair programs, including intake of grant applications, confirming income eligibility of homeowners, reviewing contractor bids, documenting compliance with city permitting and inspection procedures and coordinating with contractors to ensure projects are completed.

Associate degree and 2-3 years previous work experience in repair and construction of residential structures is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Intake and review repair applications to ensure compliance with program criteria
Coordinate and communicate with homeowners and contractors throughout projects
Maintain budget
Maintain an organized system for tracking applications and work in process
Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and reporting
Procure contractors for home repair work, vetting qualifications and documentation including licenses, insurances, permitting, and U.S. EPA Lead Based Paint remediation standards
Evaluate the performance, work quality, and reasonable cost of contractors to ensure satisfactory outcomes for both the customer and funder

Qualifications

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; including the ability to build and maintain relationships with families and contractors
Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working knowledge of applications and programs including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form
Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers
Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary)
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Willingness to achieve and maintain a high degree of knowledge of trades, and repair program requirements including home improvement standards, municipal permitting and inspection procedures, and technical requirements of grant funded programs

Must be able to pass a background check.
