Massage Therapist

Position Overview: Responsible for providing professional services to our guests with their individual needs always considered. Must have knowledge of all services, packages and products listed in the current brochure. Responsible for maintaining continuing education in order to consistently provide their guests with world-class service. Responsible for pre-setting and re-setting each treatment room and complying with all daily assigned duties. Therapists are also required to keep accurate, daily records of services that they have provided.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee must be able to see, hear, talk, sit, bend, kneel and crouch. The employee must be able to stand for an extended period of time. The employee must be able to lift and move 20 pounds, with reasonable accommodations. The employee is required to use their hands, and therefore must exhibit dexterity with respect to their position.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to, and must engage in interpersonal relations with guests. The employee must walk and climb stairs. The noise level of the area is frequently lower than that of a normal conversation level. The employee may be exposed to heat or water as a part of the guest’s treatment.

Minimum Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations: Must have current Georgia license, national certification and Liability Insurance in good standing. Continuing education is key. Within 2-3 years of hire, all Equani massage therapists must have post-graduate certifications in deep tissue, hot stone massage, reflexology, Shiatsu and Reiki. The time frame for post-graduate work is as follows: to complete a minimum of 40 hours of deep tissue, 24 hours of stones, 24 hours of reflexology, 40 hours of Shiatsu, and Levels 1 & 2 of Reiki. All post-graduate certifications must be through a Nationally Certified, Category A provider unless approved by Spa Director. Distance learning will not be recognized.

Other Qualifications: Must be bright and personable and be able to work as part of a team. Should be highly service oriented, posses exemplary personal skills and be well organized. Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Should be able to understand Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa’s objectives and have the potential to achieve employee and departmental goals.

Specifications: (Others may be assigned.)

1. Commitment to and demonstration of our Corporate Culture, Vision, Values, and Goals at all times.
2. Complete in-house orientation program, which includes all policies and procedures as per the manual and employee handbook.
3. Complete all training provided by Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa.
4. Have complete knowledge of all Spa services, packages, promotions and retail products presently offered by the Spa.
5. Present a well-groomed, professional appearance. You must be in full uniform at all times while on property or a work related event.
6. Be punctual and prepared for your day. Attend required “lineup” prior to first appointment.
7. Adhere to OSHA standard, State Regulations and Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa Safety Policies.
8. Begin and end each appointment on time. No service will be conducted before or after regular operational hours unless approved by the Spa Manager or Director. Out calls may be performed in the guest’s room. These appointments must be booked and paid for through the Spa Receptionist.
9. Able to perform at up to 6 massages per shift if needed to accommodate guests requests
10. Participate in all spa activities including staff meetings, educational events, workshops, inventory or promotions.
11. Assist in clean-up and housekeeping duties. Therapists are responsible for cleaning and resetting the treatment room after each service. Re-stock treatment supplies as needed. Request additional supplies needed from the Spa Inventory Specialist in the Spa Storeroom. The entire spa staff will share all housekeeping duties. Duties may include: Rolling of towels, re-setting showers, re-setting supplies, promotional mailings, cleaning/sanitizing and assisting fellow staff members as necessary. Therapists must check out with both the shift the Shift Supervisor prior to leaving each day.
12. Perform consultation and post treatment prescriptions and product recommendations for each guest.
13. Do not smoke while you are on a shift, nor on property.
14. Any issues regarding sexual harassment by a guest should immediately be brought to the attention of a Spa Director or Manager.
15. The resort functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours per day. All Associates must realize this fact and be aware that it may be necessary to adjust the Associate’s work schedule from his/her accustomed shift due to business demands.
16. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other Resort associates to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
17. Assists other Spa associates/coworkers whenever possible.
18. Responsible for knowing and abiding by all departmental, Coral Hospitality, and Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa policies and procedures.
