Registered Pharmacy Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist with drug distribution and pharmacy activities for the health center. The Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for following established pharmacy policy concerning drug patient care, 340B compliance, and pharmacy operations at our Port Royal Medical Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Work within the health center’s EHR to locate, retrieve or process the appropriate information required for pharmacy operations and compliance.
• Enter and process patients’ information and transactions accurately and efficiently using Pharmacy’s processing and POS systems.
• Count, measure and prepare specific products according to relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and ethics standards.
• Follow provided staging procedures appropriately.
• Maintain records and reports related to pharmacy functions, volume and sales.
• Process and troubleshoot insurance billing and claim rejections.
• Assist with inventory management, including checking medication expiration dates, cycle counts to maintain correct on hand quantities and completing wholesaler and reverse distributor returns.
• Understand and follow company guidelines regarding registers, payment and transactions.
• Properly inspect any equipment within the pharmacy and notify appropriate manager of any necessary repairs.
• Adhere to safety programs and procedures.
• Report all illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
• Assist pharmacists in all responsibilities, except those that require the judgment of a licensed pharmacist.
• Assist in data entry, inventory, stocking, dispensing, reporting and sales of prescriptions.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Reflect an appropriate and respectful business image to customers and visitors in dress, demeanor and attitude. Never be rude to a patient or customer[CK1] .

Comply with state and federal laws in regards to pharmacy, dispensing and sales of pharmacy and non-pharmacy products.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree is preferred
• Previous Pharmacy experience a plus, but we are willing to train
• Good standing with South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy
• Fluent in Spanish and English speaking and writing skills preferred
