Mission Bank is seeking an Employee Relations Manager to join the Human Capital team! The Employee Relations Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership by providing guidance on a wide range of employee relations issues. This role will be responsible for developing and enhancing Human Capital (HC) policies and programs for the organization. The Employee Relations Manager will spearhead and participate in proactive employee relations initiatives that contribute to the overall strategy of the department and the organization. This position will lead and manage the various HC functions, including employee relations and retention, leave of absences, EEO compliance, labor relations, and safety and health.

Essential Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Leads employee relations by formulating and recommending HC policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practice necessary to establish a positive employer- employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.
  • Serves as the primary employee resource for reporting of sensitive personal matters and complaints.
  • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating HC related policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and supporting organizational values.
  • Counsels management and team leaders concerning employee performance issues, including advising on employee coaching, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and terminations; minimizing the risk of adverse action; and accessing legal expertise when necessary.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by guiding managers to coach and hold employees accountable; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Protects interests of employees and the organization in accordance with company HC policies and governmental laws and regulations. Approve recommendation for terminations.
  • Manages the voluntary and involuntary termination processes.
  • Conducts and documents exit interviews, review reports and analytics in exit interview process to detect trends and advise/collaborate with leadership on corrective actions.
  • Manages leave programs, to include long term disability, short term disability and FMLA management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Understands and complies with requirements of all laws and regulations applicable to position.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational psychology, business administration, or related field, and five years of professional human resource administration, including two years in employee relations preferred; OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State employment laws.
  • Proficient in strategic HR concepts, including employee relation and employee engagement.
  • Ability to remain poised and professional under potentially contentious situations.
  • Strong decision-making skills; using analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Sensitivity in working with confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills including planning and organizational skills.
  • Attentive to details and deadlines; ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and identify when to engage others.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and other office productivity tools.

Target Compensation: $118,939 annual salary, depending on experience.
