Summary of Position:

The Contract CAD Technologist is responsible for the creation of civil site drawings and exhibits from topographic survey data. This contract role will collaborate with teams from multiple disciplines to support regulatory permitting, planning, and civil construction teams to create pad site engineering drawings. This contract position will also support the GIS team in the survey data import/export processes for data management within the GIS enterprise platform.


Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare engineering and civil site drawings from topographic survey data.
  • Perform cut-fill analysis and volume calculations for location planning.
  • Support conversion of CAD data to geospatial data platforms.
  • Gather requirements for projects with stakeholder groups, including Production, Engineering, Regulatory, Permitting, and Asset Development teams.
  • Integrate survey data from external data sources into GIS projects and the Enterprise geodatabase environment.
  • Perform data quality assessment and control measures on datasets as part of data management processes.
  • Participate in GIS and Geomatics team meetings and outreach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in drafting, working with survey data, oil and gas operations or geospatial analysis required.
  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting, Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, GIS, or related field, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Experience in oil and gas industry required.
  • Experience with geospatial data entry and conversion, and ability to work with survey and georeferenced data preferred.
  • Ability to pass Civitas Resources pre-employment background investigation.

Travel Requirements:

  • Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.
