Job Description

Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products. Will evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability and ensure project completion. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner. Requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and MUST have a minimum of 4 years of experience in the field of magnetics. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Will report to head of Engineering department.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design and develop magnetic components (inductors & transformers) for demanding environments (Military, Space, Aerospace, down-hole oil drilling).
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish design parameters for these magnetic devices. Examples of such parameters are: Flux density, saturation, pulse characteristics, temperature rise, resistivity, dielectric withstanding voltage, insulation resistance, corona inception voltage, core and copper losses, etc.
  • Verify the design by making and testing physical samples and then write assembly instructions for the manufacturing process.
  • Design products with considerations for applicable standards (Space: MIL-STD-981, Military: MIL-PRF-27, IEEE, NASA, etc.)
  • Communicate with customers in a clear and concise manner (verbal and written) to resolve issues and meet their requirements.
  • Work with the personnel of other departments to reach common goals.
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality groups by providing technical expertise and guidance.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • B.S. in EE or M.S. in EE
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the magnetic design engineer capacity.
  • Familiarity with various materials required for military, space and high temperature grade designs.
  • Ability to generate manufacturing documentation and test procedures for such devices in accordance with ISO9001 and AS9100.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with standard electrical test and bench equipment.
  • Ability to coordination and solve technical problems relating to products.
  • Customer interface for resolving issues with parts on the company’s behalf.
  • Internal point-of-contact for technical issues.
