Job Description
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee, other beverages and food items for guests. Additionally will assist guests by making recommendations, taking orders, up-selling special items, and keeping the facility clean and stocked.
Contributions Include:
- Assists in the supervision, onboarding and training of Baristas on an assigned shift.
- Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service.
- Takes guests orders at the counter or over the phone.
- Greets customers, mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso beverages and blended beverages following specifications. Prepares, handles and sells other food items in safe manner and ensures the work area is always neat and clean
- Fills coffee/beverages supplies, other food items and retail merchandise fixtures and maintains displays.
- Maintains a neat and sanitary workspace.
- Enter all transactions in the point-of-sale system, accept payment, enter tip information and account for all funds.
- Assists with daily cash counting / drawer reconciliation and deposits.
- Maintains stock, inventory and requisitions. Including weekly orders and inventory counting.
- Closes and/or opens outlet.
- Must be certified in hot bar, cold bar, cashiering, and product prep for current shift and next shift.
- Prepares and sell food items.
- Prepares and handles food in a safe manner and ensures the work area is always clean and neat.
- Review the status and appearance of the food for freshness.
- Assists guests with retail items/products for sale and tenders transactions of same, as necessary. Assists with display, inventory and stocking of retail items
- Anticipate product needs for the department on a daily basis and communicate those to the appropriate personnel.
- Prepare and replenishes product as necessary.
- Perform daily/weekly/monthly needed side work and cleaning duties.
- Check in and put away product.
- Remove trash in a timely manner.
- Washes equipment and dishes as necessary practicing serve-safe guidelines.
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure guest satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
- Assist in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.
- Other duties as assigned.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission License.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
