This position will be scheduled to work Monday - Wednesday, every other Thursday OR Tuesday - Thursday, every other Friday 6:00AM - 6:00PM.

I. Position Overview:

The Lead Facility Mechanic is responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of all facility and utility equipment. This role requires expertise in a wide range of systems, including but not limited to wells and pressure tanks, HVAC units, water treatment systems, generators, and clean room equipment. Additionally, the Lead Facility Mechanic will oversee the scheduling of service and repairs with OEMs, train facility mechanics, prioritize workload, coordinate with management and vendors for preventative maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong leadership and communication skills.

II. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

  • Perform the specific duties, activities, and responsibilities as a Facility/Utility Mechanic
  • Contact OEMs and schedule service and repairs for specialized equipment.
  • Train facility mechanics on troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Prioritize and delegate daily workload and preventative maintenance tasks for facility mechanics across shifts.
  • Collaborate with Facility Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, and Parts to schedule and implement preventative maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate labor requirements for preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assume Facility Manager duties when absent to maintain schedule adherence for preventative maintenance and manufacturing operations.
  • Proactively identify equipment or systems in need of upgrade and recommend replacements.
  • Assist audits with tours of the facility, describing equipment with knowledge and enthusiasm.
  • Help answer auditor questions by providing SOP’s and work orders.
  • Improve equipment efficiency and usability to save time and labor.
  • Draft and/or revise SOPs for facility and utility equipment.
  • Assist with System and Product Holds as needed.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for in-house facility and utility equipment.
  • Assist in the upgrade, removal and disposal of decommissioned equipment and systems.
  • Support new equipment and systems evaluation, selection, installation, and validation.
  • Assist in the repair of aseptic and packaging equipment and systems when requested.
  • Interact respectfully and professionally with other departments, contractors, and visitors.
  • Support projects and miscellaneous activities as directed by the Facility Manager.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, and actively participate in safety-related activities
  • Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage risk to ensure product quality. Communicate risk policies and processes throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

III. Position Requirements:

Education or Equivalent:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • HVAC certification is desired.

Experience:

  • Minimum Eight (8) years of relative maintenance experience required.
  • Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment desired.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical & electrical aptitude.
  • Understands and applies the use of hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Works well under pressure and can prioritize workloads.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects at one time.
  • Works well in a team environment. Able to interact effectively with others.
  • Solid reading, writing, math, computer, and verbal communication skills in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Visual Acuity (20/30 corrected vision).
  • Safely use hand and power tools to complete assigned tasks.
  • Drive forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and company vehicle.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing ladders/steps, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, handling, and grasping.
  • Occasional walking up inclines and uneven terrain, writing, talking, listening and balancing.
  • Frequent lifting/moving up to 30 pounds, and occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
