Tolunay-Wong Engineers, Inc. (TWE) is seeking applicants for a Safety Technician for our Southeast Texas/Southwest Louisiana area. The East Region Safety Technician is responsible for the daily management of projects assigned. He or she will be required to maintain and assure that the procedures dictated by the Corporate Safety Director and company policies are followed. The East Region Safety Technician will be knowledgeable about general workplace safety and health issues, and all positions which TWE employees occupy. This knowledge will be gained through training and experience. The East Region Safety Technician will monitor and report directly to the Safety Manager results of safety and health programs, training and accident prevention activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct safety inspections (20+ per week), surveys, audits and assessments throughout the workplace.
  2. Review safety inspection reports and unsafe or unsanitary conditions that are reported by Supervisors, Employees or others.  Implement corrective actions as directed.
  3. Resolve questions and/or recommend necessary expenditures to correct unsafe conditions.
  4. Actively support and promote Company safety and health programs and activities.
  5. Investigate all work-related accidents, injuries and near miss incidents involving Employees or other persons; or significant damage to Company property using RCA.
  6. Attend Site Safety Meetings.
  7. Facilitate company safety meetings.
  8. Conduct monthly facility inspections. 
  9. Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment.
  10. Selection and purchase of safety equipment and PPE.
  11. Other duties not listed above or that are asked of by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. 2 years of safety field experience
  2. CSST or equivalent 
  3. Familiar with OSHA standards
  4. Experience creating Risk Assessment Matrix, JHA, JSA
  5. Excellent computer skills including accounting software, technical software, Microsoft Office, Excel and other applicable programs.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. The ability to multitask and self-start
  8. Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License
  9. Pass drug and alcohol screening as well as graded background check
  10. Successful completion of OSHA 40 hour Hazardous Waste Operations training
  11. Successful completion of Safety Council Basic Plus training
  12. Successful completion of Site specific trainings
