Primary Responsibility:

The Class A Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery, equipment, piping, electrical, and electronic systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Machine Inspection: Visually inspect and listen to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions, including testing machinery and equipment.

  • Malfunction Diagnosis: Listen for unusual sounds and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.

  • Work Scheduling: Schedule work efficiently to maximize task completion, minimize plant disruption, reduce unscheduled downtime, lower costs, and improve plant efficiency.

  • Equipment Repair: Dismantle defective machines and equipment, installing new or repaired parts.

  • Maintenance: Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts.

  • Electrical Work: Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

  • Equipment Wear: Look for visible wear or defects on machinery daily.

  • Pipe Systems: Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

  • Machine Tools: Set up and operate machine tools such as drill press, band saw, and grinder to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

  • Welding: Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

  • Safety: Follow all safety-related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Identify unsafe behaviors and conditions and maintain a clean work environment according to the 5S system.

  • Operator Training: Support the teaching, training, and development of Operators in mechanical skill sets, including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Experience: Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school, or one year of related manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, write legibly in English, and communicate clearly in English.

  • Mathematical Skills: Able to perform basic math functions and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Certifications: Must become a Certified Forklift operator in accordance with SCT training.
