Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as a full-time Dining Services Director at our Cedarhurst of Owensboro community.

As a Dining Services Director you will have to opportunity to connect with, and positively impact the lives of, our residents daily! You will be responsible for direction, supervision, and the overall operation of the culinary program within the community. You will ensure food inventory is taken regularly and supplies and/or goods are ordered timely and in accordance with the budget, appropriately staff the kitchen with cooks and dietary aides (recruit, hire, train), and plan and prepare appealing, nutritious, heart-healthy, tasteful, fresh food for our residents and guests in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations.

As a Dining Services Director, working with the Executive Director, you will impact the lives of our residents by

  • Ability to identify, create and implement a menu cycle that will be well-received by the residents, which features seasonal menu items.
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative – willing to go above and beyond to ensure our residents needs are met and they are comfortable in their living environment.
  • Must remain flexible and have the ability to work weekends as Manager on Duty, when necessary.

To become a Dining Services Director, you will need –

  • One year of dining/culinary experience within a senior care community with applicable state licensure/certification & ServSafe certification is required.
  • Must possess experience with interviewing, hiring, scheduling, coaching, conflict resolution, budget planning, food safety & training.
  • Must possess a proven ability to lead others and have the ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times with the ability to effectively perform conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, management, and other members of the organization clearly and effectively, as well as conduct necessary training and education as it relates to the culinary program, operation and cleaning of kitchen equipment and proper food service.
  • Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job which includes, but is not limited to seeing, speaking, touching, walking, standing, bending, reaching overhead, crouching/kneeling, as well as the ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs independently and up to 100lbs with assistance.
  • Comply with all personnel policies, community policies & procedures, as well as State & Federal regulations and standards.
  • Self-motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Must possess a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding food service within senior living, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living
  • Must exhibit and promote a high level of customer service, hospitality, curiosity and friendliness towards all residents, visitors, employees, and the overall community
