Job Description

The Utility Porter maintains the overall cleanliness of the hotel floors, outdoor of property and will also stocks all property linens, helps strip guest rooms, and ensures the cleanliness of guest areas are up to established standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shampoo carpet, scrub VCT, clean and maintain floor as assigned.
  • Must be knowledgeable in all floor care practices, know the different chemicals used for floor care, and the different machines used for floor care.
  • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Supervisors and Managers concerning all Housekeeping and Guest Service related issues.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with fellow Team Members, Guests and Vendors.
  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. All Employees must be knowledgeable to all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Six months experience in housekeeping in a similar casino/hotel environment preferred. Working knowledge of and experience with professional floor care equipment used (buffer, extractor, high lift), knowledge of various floor surfaces (wood, carpet, etc.) and the processes required for maintaining them.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate in English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Micros or similar POS software experience preferred.

MACHINERY USED

Buffer, extractor, high lift, shampooer, vacuums, mops, hand tools.
