SALARY RANGE: $50,000 to $65,000, based upon experience, % of profit bonuses, plus full benefits (health insurance, 401k, PTO, gym membership, etc).

THE HIRING COMPANY: The Kitchen at Discovery is a unique indoor/outdoor entertainment complex that features America's fastest growing sport, pickleball, as well as a great food and beverage setting. Our venue features 6 indoor and 4 outdoor courts that are built to stadium and competition specifications. Our courts have up to twice the surface area of recreational courts that are common in other pickleball complexes. A full compliment of indoor games, outdoor games, ice skating, live music and a family friendly atmosphere will provide patrons a great experience. The Kitchen at Discovery is one of multiple amenities built and planned for local residents at Aria and the greater Columbia community.

KITCHEN MANAGER POSITION: Discovery is looking to grow our Management team and hire a Kitchen Manager for one of our future restaurant amenities opening in late Fall 2023. The Kitchen Grill & Games at Discovery is one of multiple amenities built and planned for local residents at Aria and the greater Columbia community. As part of our Management Team you will work with one of the best teams in Mid-Missouri, providing exceptional service to the greater Columbia Community, including our very own Discovery Residents. We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated person to oversee our Back of House operations and grow the success of this amenity by offering the best menu in town!

KITCHEN MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all food items are prepared and served according to the restaurant's recipes and quality standards.
  • Coach cooks or other workers on the preparation, cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food.
  • Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points.
  • Control food cost by creating, following and coaching employees on standard recipes and food storage procedures.
  • Plan and price menu items, establish portion sizes and prepare standard recipe cards for all new menu items.
  • Meet with guests to discuss menus for special occasions, such as parties, or banquets.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies, food and ingredients based upon anticipated business
  • Create schedules for kitchen staff based on anticipated business activity; ensure that both labor cost objectives and adequate staffing for exceptional service are achieved.
  • Schedule and oversee necessary maintenance and repairs on kitchen appliances
  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.

KITCHEN MANAGER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MUST HAVE: 2+ year's experience in a Lead Kitchen role at a fast paced or casual dining establishment.
  • MUST HAVE: Knowledge and understanding of food and labor costs.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead a team
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
