SureScan Corporation is seeking a driven individual majoring in Electrical Engineering to join our team as an Intern for the Summer of 2024. The position will be based in Binghamton, NY.
SureScan Corporation is a growing high-technology company that provides Aerospace Security Solutions on a globally. SureScan manufactures, sells, and services the SureScan x1000 explosive detection system and other related products.
Our mission revolves around customer-centric innovation and close collaboration amongst clients and partners to anticipate and meet evolving demands. SureScan provides an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience in the Aviation and Medical industries.
The Intern will work among our engineers, quality, and manufacturing teams to test and analyze existing electronic subsystems and their components. Tasks include utilizing research skills to improve the life cycle maintenance of electronic circuit designs. The Intern will also collect data and analyze power supply systems, while gaining experience with instrumentation and communication protocols.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundational knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles, exhibit a productive autonomous work style, and have interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Test and verify electronic circuits
• Debug defective circuit assemblies
• Research and identify alternate components
• Maintain documented test procedures
• Update documented alternate components lists
Education & Experience:
• Enrolled in bachelors or higher engineering degree program
• Rising Junior or Senior majoring in Electrical Engineering
Minimum Qualifications:
• The security requirements of this position require that the candidate be a United States Citizen
• Must be proficient in reading and writing the English language.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent organization skills
• Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have availability to work longer hours during the Summer.
• Must provide own mode of transportation and housing.
Desired Qualifications:
• Capable of using a computer for extended periods of time
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
• Experience reading electrical schematics
• Experience using Oscilloscopes and other electrical measurement equipment
• Experience in scripted programing languages such as python and MATLAB
• Experience in SPICE software (LT-spice, P-spice)
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
• Must be able to work in front of a computer for several hours
• Must work on site, will interact with hardware and firmware for electronic assemblies
• Work in a manufacturing environment. Ambient noise from equipment and servers will be present.
• Comfortable working in an environment where x-ray equipment is manufactured and tested. Equipment produces x-ray radiation, which is monitored and controlled to meet strict safety regulations.
