JOB SUMMARY:

The Woodtruss Design Manager will oversee a team of designers and engineers in the production of wood truss systems for residential and commercial construction projects. They will work closely with sales staff, project managers, and manufacturers to ensure design integrity, cost effectiveness, and timely delivery of products and services.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with manufacturing facilities to ensure accurate and timely production of wood trusses.
  • Lead and mentor a team of designers and engineers in the production of wood truss systems.
  • Collaborate with sales staff and project managers to develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Manage the design and coordination of wood truss systems from concept through fabrication and installation.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers and sales staff.
  • Stay abreast of advances in wood truss design, materials, and construction methods.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in wood truss design and engineering.
  • Experience with truss design software.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
  • High degree of self-motivation and independent decision making
