POSITION SUMMARY

The Floater in the Parts Fabrication department is a versatile and experienced operator responsible for performing a variety of roles as needed, including working on Plasma Tables, Press Brakes, and operating Forklifts. The primary goal of the Floater is to ensure continuous production by stepping into different roles as required, maintaining high standards of quality and safety in line with company expectations.

  • Flexibly move between operating Plasma Tables, Press Brakes, and Forklifts based on production needs.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety protocols, promoting a safe work environment at all times.
  • Obtain specifications for each job assignment and adjust machine settings accordingly.
  • Handle materials and operate machinery to fabricate parts accurately according to specifications.
  • Maintain high levels of quality control, perform continuous checks, and communicate any discrepancies in product quality or machine function to management.
  • Prepare and manage workspace, ensuring cleanliness and organization to optimize workflow and safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with the production team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate management promptly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in operating Plasma Tables, Press Brakes, and Forklifts preferred.
  • Must have relevant training from vocational-technology schools, trade schools, or proven ability from previous employment in similar roles.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documents such as machine manuals, work orders, and safety rules.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to safely perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50+ lbs.
  • Regular, punctual attendance is required to meet company productivity standards.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on communication devices.
