Job Description:

The Immigrant Resource Program Assistant is a member of the Community Outreach team, reporting to the Immigrant Resource Program Manager. Primary responsibilities include assisting in management of a network of immigrant volunteers to conduct community outreach and provide vital information to the immigrant population that is language accessible and culturally appropriate. The Immigrant Resource Program Assistant will adhere to agency policies and strategies that ensure sustainability and organizational growth. The Immigrant Resource Program Assistant will work to promote the agency’s mission and values to all stakeholders.

The Immigrant Resource Program Assistant must exemplify Journey’s End’s core values in their work. These values include intercultural responsiveness, integrity, person-centered, empowerment, and exemplary service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support as it relates to volunteer recruitment, retention, onboarding, trainings, and related meetings.
  • Create and process volunteer files.
  • Assist with conducting volunteer orientations and onboarding of new volunteers.
  • Assist in implementation of volunteer recruitment and retention plan.
  • Cultivate volunteer leadership and appreciation through trainings and special events.
  • Participate in volunteer thanks and stewardship.
  • Assist in communication with volunteers through confidential system.
  • Regularly engage and communicate with volunteers and program participants to assess satisfaction including gathering surveys.
  • Assist in maintaining a referral list of programs and services available to immigrants in our area.
  • Assist in managing WhatsApp broadcast lists.
  • Promote Immigrant Resource Program to community partners.
  • Assist in direct outreach to recruit Immigrant Community Leadership Fellows including off-site speaking presentations and tabling.
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and attending all Immigrant Resource Program and Community Outreach department events.
  • Conduct office tours to local groups, volunteers and other parties.
  • Help track community outreach activities and events for reporting.
  • Collect monthly volunteer hours and other key data for reporting.
  • Share responsibility for supervising Home Agains (donor housing set-ups). Requires weekend hours.
  • Must adhere to client confidentiality guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A strong work ethic is required: must be well-organized and detail-oriented; prioritize and follow through on tasks accurately with minimal supervision; and be very self-motivated in a fast-paced work environment
  • A demonstrated background in community outreach, community development, volunteer coordination, training with underserved communities and non-profit work strongly desired
  • Experience working with immigrant communities
  • Fluency in a language other than English
  • A thorough understanding of the mission of Journey’s End, and a commitment to promoting the mission to different groups in the community
  • Database experience and other computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and public speaking skills with ability to represent the agency professionally
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends (work hours can be flexed)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to an insured vehicle
  • Able to lift 25lbs
