POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Hours: 20 hours/week
Status: Full Year
Location Position: will work with Green County families

The Early Head Start Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Green County Early Head Start Home Based programs. This includes preparation of: materials; transportation & nutrition needs for socializations; maintaining curricular resources for home visits; special projects; developing newsletters and other written materials and assisting the families, Family Advocates and Supervisors of EHS.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills, particularly spoken, desired, not required
  • Child Development or related Associate’s Degree and experience preferred
  • Ability to understand office systems and procedures and utilize them in support of overall program compliance, with strong emphasis on record keeping, tracking and contact with public
  • Strong computer literacy and 2 to 3 years of work experience in Microsoft Office programs, Outlook, Google – Gmail, Sheets, Drive, Docs, Windows Media, Paint, and the internet
  • Coursework and / or experience in 0-3 education, human development and / or health services preferred
  • Effective communication skills, written, verbal, and listening; ability to communicate professionally and effectively with parents, staff and management on a daily basis
  • Successfully pass the Caregiver Background Check
  • Successfully pass a TB screen and physical examination that verifies the employee is free from communicable diseases and is physically able to perform required job responsibilities
  • Experience with low-income, multicultural families, and knowledge of needs of low-income families is preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented and maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Must have the ability to determine workload priority and work independently
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, problem solve and effectively handle multiple tasks
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work to support program needs
  • Other duties as assigned
