Job Description:
Under supervision and guidance, the Machinist Apprentice sets up and operates hand and machine tools as directed by your Supervisor and other Journeyman Machinist.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Machines various materials as directed.
- Modifies and adjusts metal parts for special projects.
- Performs preventative maintenance on tools, equipment, or machinery etc.
- Repair or makes parts as directed.
- Assist in machine setup and teardown.
- Assists in the assembly and teardown of machinery and equipment as needed.
- Use, inspect, and maintain a variety of hand tools.
- Performs general tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) High School is required.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential functions of this job description successfully.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must have the ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Position requires standing, sitting, squatting, twisting, or stooping for long periods.
