Job: 2nd Shift Structural Fitter/Welder

Location: Houston, TX 77064

Pay: $18 - 22/HR + OT

Weekly Day Range: Monday – Friday, Saturday as needed
Shift: Applicants are expected to be able to work for 6-8 weeks training on 1st shift (6AM to 4:30PM) then transition to 2nd shift - 4PM - 2:30AM (or later depending on production)

Structural Fitter/Welder Job Description

• Layout and fit-up with minimal supervision
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, including weld symbols
• Calibrating/setting welding machines
• GMAW welding of Aluminum may be required up to and including 3/16 thickness.
• Ability to read engineering drawings to determine weld size requirements.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and/or moving of 100 pounds and over,
• Frequent lifting and/or carrying odd shaped objects weighing up to 75 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Ability to comprehend additional training in relation to the performing of the work duties.

Structural Fitter/Welder Job Requirements:

• Experience in reading blueprints (including weld symbols)
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production-type environment
• This is NOT a role for Pipe Fitters, only structural fitters should apply

Structural Fitter/Welder Job Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine the layout of welding and fitting work
• Measure and mark materials for welding and fitting
• Set up and operate welding equipment to weld and fit metal components
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
• Inspect welds for accuracy and quality
• Clean and maintain welding equipment

Structural Fitter/Welder Required Skills:

• Proficient in various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, Flux and Stick welding
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
• Knowledge of different types of metals and their properties
• Familiarity with welding safety procedures and practices
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Welding certification is a plus.

Tools: As part of the interview process for this role candidates will perform a weld test to be qualified.

Candidates should have their own basic welding tools; square, welding hood, clamps & tape measure.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
