ROLE:
COMPANY is a renewable energy IoT stealth-mode startup based in Livermore, CA. The company is currently seeking a highly experienced & motivated Senior Hardware Engineer. The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing and optimization of our solar technology devices. Your expertise will be applied to various applications, including switching power supplies, solar inverters, solar energy storage systems, and motor control. The role involves working with a cross-functional team to ensure the successful implementation of efficient and reliable power electronic solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Capable of setting architecture and making appropriate trade-offs given design constraints such as cost, memory, power usage, and communications bandwidth as well as risk and time to market.
Designing with the following technologies:
o
Digital design to include microcontrollers and FPGAs.
o
Power electronics design to include DC-DC Converters such as buck, buck-boost, and SEPIC.
o
Communication interfaces such as USB 2.0/3.0, WiFi, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C.
o
Software simulation of analog and digital circuitry using SPICE or other similar application.
o
Embedded software development using C, C++, Python, or JAVA.
o
Analog filtering using active op-amps as well as passive devices.

Designing IoT devices with processor, power, and communication constraints.
•
EMI/EMC compliance testing and mitigation.
•
Implement control strategies to enhance overall system reliability.
•
Schematic capture and PCB layout using CAD tools such as Dip Trace or other similar applications.
•
Devise experiments to optimize system performance.
•
Analyze and troubleshoot hardware-related issues, providing solutions and improvements.
•
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and industrial designers, toensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
•
Create comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
•
Maintain accurate records of hardware design changes, updates, and configurations.
•
Provide leadership and mentoring when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
•
Proven experience in a design role with increasing responsibility.
•
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•
Strong written and oral skills.
•
Knowledge of linear as well as stochastic systems.
PREFERRED SKILLS
•
Experience with energy storage systems is a plus.
•
Knowledge of design techniques for manufacture, test, cost and reliability.
•
Experience working with safety agencies such as UL/VDE.
•
Familiarity with renewable energy systems, including solar technologies.
•
Unafraid to pursue new ideas while at the same time being results-oriented.
