Facilities Custodian

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Custodian to join our team at our primary distribution center in Petersburg, Virginia. This role is crucial in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for our warehouse and office staff. The ideal candidate will be thorough, reliable, and committed to upholding our standards of cleanliness and organization.

 Responsibilities:

• Regularly clean and maintain all areas of the warehouse, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and washing surfaces to ensure a tidy working environment.
• Clean and sanitize office areas, break rooms, and bathrooms, including but not limited to dusting furniture, washing windows, vacuuming carpets, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
• Manage waste and recycling, including the proper disposal of materials and regular removal of trash from all areas of the facility.
• Restock consumables, such as soap, toilet paper, and hand towels in the bathrooms and break rooms. Participate in regular counts to ensure backstock of consumables is maintained.
• Conduct routine inspection of the premises to identify areas requiring repair or attention, reporting any issues to the maintenance department promptly.
• Operate and maintain janitorial equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all tools are in good working order.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the facility
• Assist with general grounds keeping tasks as needed.
• Respond to ad hoc cleaning requests and support other maintenance tasks as required.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role, preferably within a warehouse environment.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of industrial cleaning equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in providing a clean environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable and punctual with a demonstrated record of good attendance.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Flexible availability, including occasional weekends or evenings as needed.
