Job Description

As a Process Leader, Quality this position will be primarily responsible for the quality function at the Lockport, NY site, and will also support the quality team at the other facilities. This will include learning operations specifications, standards, and equipment, implementation of process improvements, interaction with customers during both production and audits, and supporting both inside and outside sales.

A successful Process Leader, Quality will quickly grasp the companies processes and business culture, successfully balance multiple projects at various stages with limited supervision in a fast-paced, competitive environment, analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and timely implementation of long-term solutions, and possess a strong continuous improvement mindset.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned)

  • Advance and teach the use of continuous improvement tools while driving implementation of site/company improvement projects, customer actions and opportunities for improvement, and corrective actions.
  • Lead customer visits, audits, and requests. Assist with qualification programs.
  • Achieve quality metrics as measured at the Daily Management Board and complete internal audits.
  • Secure and maintain quality related certificates and accreditations.
  • Approve quality records and ensure retention of documented information.
  • Develop subject matter expertise to support review and implementation of specifications.
  • Support of the site’s/company’s objectives for Safety, Right First Time, and Meet the Forecast.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in a related field OR equivalent experience. 
  • In addition to the education requirements, three years of experience in a combination of the following:
    • Quality systems management or quality personnel leadership experience,
    • Decision-making around customer requirements,
    • Melting, forging, or conversion manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated comfort and success in and around a manufacturing environment.

Skills

  • Familiarity with certifications and accreditations (ISO 9001, AS9100, Nadcap).
  • Project management and organizational tools/methods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and Power Point at a minimum) required to accomplish day-to-day work activities and willingness to learn additional programs.
  • Knowledge of company, products, objectives, and operations.
  • Oracle, Maximo, etc. experience a plus.
  • Experienced in the use of continuous improvement tools. Five Why, Risk Assessment and Abatement, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing experience, etc. a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills
