Job Description:

The Director, Project Controls, is responsible for the development and administration of standardized project portfolio management processes, project budget planning and development, project risk management, project status and financial reporting, during renewable project development and construction activities.


Responsibilities:
  • Establishes common project governance processes, templates, tools, and metrics that enable transparent project management, issue escalation, and reporting. (15%)
  • Develops, implements, and maintains management reporting tools to produce project controls reporting. (15%)
  • Ensures regular and timely reporting of the project status and activities against key project milestones. (5%)
  • Assists in the development detailed project execution plans and participates in project planning. (10%)
  • Identify and monitor key project and financial risks and evaluates effectiveness of risk mitigation plans. (10%)
  • Develop & maintain high-level milestone and resource plans using current portfolio, program, and project status, pipeline information, historical information, and other available data. (10%)
  • Identify task dependencies between resources and projects to ensure project outcomes align with stakeholder expectations. (5%)
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to provide project financial forecasts, project expenditure reconciliation, and leads monthly project status and budget management reviews. (10%)
  • May directly or indirectly manage project administration activities including procurement processes, supplier development, purchase order management, and invoicing. (10%)
  • Responsible to monitor project expenditures including verifying invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded. (5%)
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, as directed by management. (5%)
  • Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
  • Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training, and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact cost estimates.

Qualifications:
  • 8 years of related experience, including 3 years with direct project management responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, computer science, construction management, business administration or related field. (Six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required to qualify for Director level role.
