Elkan Energy Services is a leading freshwater transmission and distribution company serving the energy industry in western North Dakota. We are seeking a mechanic capable of working on both diesel and gas engines to support our ever-changing water supply system.

Requirements

Essential

  • 2 years mechanic experience
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance
  • Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 100 pounds
  • Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distant vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Driver’s License
  • Willing to relocate

Desirable

  • 5 years mechanic experience
  • Motor Vehicle Inspection License
  • CDL Class A
  • DOT Inspection Certificate
  • Experience with computers and diagnostic equipment
  • Water Transfer experience

Job duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Pickups, Semis, Trailers Systems and Equipment
  • Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Demonstrate advanced diagnostic and knowledge of gas and diesel engines, repair skills on multiple types of equipment and vehicles including skid steers, telehandler, forklift, heavy equipment etc.
  • Keep equipment available for use by adhering to preventative maintenance schedules
  • Perform repairs with limited supervision on wheel seals, suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, air and cooling systems, oil changes etc.
  • Repair heavy equipment such as engines, transmissions, clutches, and brakes
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area daily
  • Maintain and enhance mechanical technology knowledge
  • Track job time and document repairs and pertinent information on in-house business system via repair orders
  • Tag and document all warranty items appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of projects, individuals, and the company
  • Adhere to rules, regulations, and company policies, present and future that are published for employees
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and out of service criteria Knowledge and experience in pump repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience in Heater repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge in Drive Trains & Hydraulics, Steering & Suspension
  • Experience with computer diagnostic equipment is preferred
  • Must pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol test
  • Knowledge and experience in pump repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge and experience in Heater repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge in Drive Trains & Hydraulics, Steering & Suspension
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Read, write and speak English (work orders, manuals, etc.)
  • Expected to serve as a resource to others for mentoring, knowledge transfer, training and checking work
  • The candidate must possess good character, have a positive attitude, and be a team player
  • Other duties as assigned
