Bishop Gadsden located on James Island, is a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community and is located on 134 acres of lush marshlands and majestic oaks on James Island, just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston!

We are hiring Part Time Housekeeping team members and willing to work with your scheduled hours!  Our Housekeeping team members maintain a clean and inviting environment throughout our community, completing general and detailed housekeeping functions. The successful candidate will be willing to work in a service-oriented environment and have compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly. We currently offer Part Time opportunities, which could lead to Full Time (with overtime opportunities) if desired at a later time.

A Typical Day:

• Prepare supplies and equipment as needed from supply area and load onto cleaning cart. Keep Housekeeping closet and cleaning cart clean and organized.
• Clean residents’ apartments, common areas and offices following Bishop Gadsden cleaning standards. o
• Sweep/vacuum all assigned areas, mop hard floors, clean all room furnishings including fixtures, ledges, windows, blinds, mirrors, walls and ceilings
• Follow safety policies and procedures and maintain safe work habits at all times
• Participate in educational and departmental opportunities as well as in staff functions
• Perform all responsibilities with adherence to Resident’s Rights and HIPAA

What We Need From You:

• High school education or equivalent preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Pleasant interaction skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and employees
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift (up to 50 lbs.)
• Dedicated mindset to clean assigned areas with high standards.
