Job Description
Join our team as the Compounding Pharmacy Manager (Pharmacist-in-Charge), where you'll lead the charge in running our dynamic compounding pharmacy. As the primary overseer, you'll guide a team of skilled pharmacists, technicians, and supportive staff, ensuring smooth prescription processing, fostering strong relationships with prescribers and patients, meticulously checking compounded products, and providing invaluable supervision and mentorship. Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered pharmacist in good standing in the state where the pharmacy is located
- May require registration in other states serviced by the pharmacy
- Experience in compounding pharmacy preferred but not required
- Managerial experience preferred but not required
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Obtain and maintain all applicable licenses
- Ensure compliance with federal and state rules and regulations
- Provide training and ensure ongoing competency of staff
- Maintain security of employees, pharmacy, inventory, and patient records
- Receive and reduce verbal prescription orders to writing
- Perform duties in compliance with SOPs and best practices
- Interpret and clarify prescription orders
- Oversee input of patient and prescription information
- Create and check documents such as prescriptions and compounding records
- Ensure quality and safety of dispensed compounded products
- Supervise technicians and other employees involved in pharmacy operations and compounding
- Counsel and advise patients and caregivers
- Adhere to and communicate the company's vision statement and core values
- Make decisions based on the company's vision statement and core values
Essential Functions:
1. Reporting: Run monthly reports on prescriptions filled, physician prescribing trends, pricing, and accuracy of compounds.
2. Customer Experience: Conduct weekly patient satisfaction calls and document interactions.
3. Accuracy: Send random samples of compounded products to ensure accuracy.
4. Self-Development: Attend seminars, conferences, and state-mandated CE courses; review pharmaceutical guidelines regularly.
5. Industry: Attend pharmaceutical seminars, subscribe to relevant magazines, and stay updated on compounding practices.
6. Personal Growth: Attend leadership webinars and read articles/books on pharmaceutical compounding.
Physical and Special Requirements:
1. Ability to stand for prolonged periods
2. May need to lift up to 40 pounds
3. Limited exposure to potentially hazardous substances
4. Significant on-call duty
