The Medical Technologist will be working closely with infertility specialists, OB-GYNs, Urologists, and Oncologists to provide infertility testing (semen analyses), therapeutic procedures (sperm cryopreservation, and preparation of semen specimens for insemination), and cycle monitoring for in vitro fertilization or intrauterine insemination (assays for Estradiol, FSH, LH, TSH, AMH, and HCG using the fully automated Access2 analyzer from Beckman Coulter). Approximately 50% of the time will be spent in the Andrology lab and 50% in the Endocrinology lab. The schedule is Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm and a weekend rotation every 4-6 weeks.

How You'll Contribute:

SPECIMEN ANALYSIS:

• Preparing specimens for analysis, performing analyses following written procedures.
o The following Andrology tests may be performed without direct supervision. The Technical Supervisor should review these test results after they are reported to the physician: Semen analysis, sperm preparation for IUI, ASAB test.
o The following endocrinology tests may be performed without direct supervision. The General Supervisor will review these test results after they are reported to the physician or appropriate nurse: E2, intact HCG, LH, FSH, P4, TSH, and AMH.
• Preparing reagents or media from written procedures and making adjustments as needed.
• Confirming and verifying results through knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments.
• Recognizing problems, identifying the cause, developing alternatives and determining solutions where no present criteria are available.
• Indicating the need for additional laboratory tests for definitive diagnostic information in prescribed instances.
• Utilizing laboratory information systems or other methods to accurately and effectively report patient results in an established format.
QUALITY CONTROL:

• Operating, calibrating, conducting performance checks, and maintaining any clinical laboratory instruments or equipment.
• Recognizing and correcting basic instrument malfunctions. Notify supervisory personnel when appropriate. Contact maintenance personnel when needed.
• Evaluating media, reagents, and calibrators according to established criteria.
• Conducting established quality control procedures on analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products; evaluating results of quality control and implement corrective action when indicated.
• Determining performance specifications for new methods and establishing basic quality control procedures.

What You'll Bring:

• MS, BA or BS in science or medical technology
• Current Tennessee state license in medical technology (Preferred)
• 1 year of Medical Technologist Experience
• 2+ years of Medical Technologist Experience (preferred)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good research skills
• Advanced computer skills are required
• Flexibility and willingness to learn at all times
• Excellent multi-tasking abilities
• Ability to work some weekends
