Job Summary
Being a physical therapist can be mentally and physically draining. It’s a role that requires hands-on, individualized patient care. You will draw on many different disciplines to perform your job duties in physical therapy. You’ll apply knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, neuroscience, pharmacology, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, and other areas.
Physical and Mental Effort
To succeed as a physical therapist, you’ll also need to be an effective communicator and have strong interpersonal skills to motivate your patients and provide compassionate care. On average, physical therapists tend to spend more one-on-one time with patients than many other types of healthcare practitioners, so building trust and positive rapport is essential.
Environmental and Working Conditions
Working outside of the office, in the field, in patients’ homes in various conditions; ability to travel locally; ability to work a flexible schedule.
Essential Functions
- Diagnose movement dysfunction by listening to patients and observing them as they move about and Develop an individualized treatment plan
- Coach patients and teach them therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their condition
- Use hands-on therapy such as massage to ease patients’ pain and provide stimulation to promote healing
- Maintain patient records by keeping track of goals and progress while adapting treatment plans accordingly
- Advise patients and their families on in-home treatment options and what to expect from the recovery process
- Coordinate with RNs and other clinical practitioners
Requirements:
Requirements
Education:. Licensed in the state of Texas with all necessary Education
Licensure: Active, state license as a licensed vocational/practical nurse, or a multi-state license issued by a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) member state. Current driver’s license.
Experience: Min year of experience in PT. Home health 6 month minimum. Must be able to continue care with patient
Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
