Salary: $26-$28 per hour DOE

The Shelter Social Work Specialist provides trauma-informed supportive services for clients and their children residing in our emergency shelter with a primary focus on ensuring safety, stability, crisis intervention and advocacy for adult and children victims of domestic violence. 


**This position will remain open until filled. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing a trauma-informed and client centered approach, provides ongoing support to domestic violence survivors including crisis intervention, safety planning, needs assessment and coordinating resources and services.
  • Engages in survivor-driven advocacy and assists clients in developing individual comprehensive case plans that address the core issues of domestic violence survivors and the unique goals of each client. Monitors and supports progress, and adjusts plans as needed, through regular case management and coaching sessions with client.
  • Coordinates services for survivors with public/private resources and partner agencies to attain economic and housing stability and support progress toward individual goals.
  • Conducts telephone and/or in person screenings with potential clients; assesses immediate needs and assists with appropriate placement or services.
  • Collaborates with other program staff to ensure appropriate services are provided in compliance with program protocols and follows through on assigned tasks.
  • Monitors and maintains the residential facility standards to provide a clean, safe and secure environment for clients.
  • Maintains timely and accurate completion of data entry and reporting, including client status updates, case notes, incident reports, and other programmatic and agency requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with all agency policies and procedures for employees and clients, including but not limited to confidentiality, safety protocols, legal requirements, ethical standards and administrative procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings including supervision, case conferences, trainings and other agency requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or other human services field is required.
  • Minimum of two-years of social services experience, residential setting preferred; or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience working with domestic violence survivors and families in a professional setting preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work respectfully, non-judgmentally, and professionally with diverse populations in a culturally competent manner, including program participants, employees, volunteers, agency partners, and the community at large.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and effective listening skills.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor during stressful situations and determine appropriate solutions consistent with established policies and procedures.
