MHP hiring a full-time Residential Advisor who will be responsible for all activity in all transitional housing and supportive housing locations. The Residential Advisor monitors all participant activity, ensuring that the house operates smoothly during their shift and maintains a level of safety and security for the residents occupying their units. Populations served include participants with lived experience of homelessness, mental health conditions and/or addiction and who are in recovery. All positions are awake positions.


The position is located at 1305 East Oak Lane Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19126, Monday - Friday, 3:30 PM - 11:30 PM, with a starting salary rate of $16.00/hour. As an MHP employee, you will have access to the following benefits:

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide resources for participants in the areas of housing, medical, substance abuse, mental health, etc., to ensure that participants are actively adhering to treatment/progress plans.
  • Facilitate discussions, groups, and recreational activities during the shift.
  • Assists participants in achieving their goal plan.
  • Ensures the safety, security and well-being of participants through regular interaction with participants throughout shift.
  • Maintain required documentation, including, but not limited to, Log Book, daily Progress Notes, Shift Reports, Medication Administration Records (MARs), Incident Reports, housing applications, and blood sugar records, changes in participants' moods and behaviors, etc.
  • Meets with participants to assess progress and develop interventions.
  • Checks regularly throughout the night on participants wellbeing (if night shift).
  • Accurately oversee the medication administration during each shift.
  • Prepare meals as necessary.
  • Ensures that all participants' visits are documented in EHR immediately.
  • Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP's mission and vision.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED and one to two years of related work experience (including internships and volunteer work), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Peer Specialist certificate is preferred.
  • Must possess a medication monitoring training certificate or must have the ability to be trained in medication monitoring.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate 6 and 12 passenger van.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, email, time sheet management, electronic health records, using Microsoft Office Applications, and other relevant software
  • Must have basic electronic communication and internet skills.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Safety Certificate within 6 months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
  • Lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and be available for flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends and/or work holidays/overtime as needed.
  • Ability to drive a multi-passenger van (including at night) and physically support passengers during ingress/egress as needed and/or assist disabled individuals in an emergency evacuation.
  • Walk around multiple MHP locations and in the community in areas that may not be handicap accessible. May be required to have the ability to enter, exit and drive personal or agency vehicles and/or public transportation depending on the needs of the department.
  • Climb up to 3 flights stairs, multiple times per shift, to complete participant check-ins.
  • Remain awake during entire shift, including break times.
  • Frequent talking and listening. Must be able to talk, listen, retain information and speak clearly and accurately; possible exposure to loud and/or vulgar language and hostile gestures.
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions while meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards safely and successfully with or without a reasonable accommodation.
