SPEC is an established preschool program that has served the highland community for over 70 years. We are in search of a dependable, self-motivated person with lead teacher and planning experience. Must be available for classes 9:00-1:00 with possible extended care hours that may vary. We care for children ages 2- 5 years old. We are closed for holidays similar to JCPS, following their school calendar. Our staff is caring and kind and take early childhood education very seriously. This position will require hands on play and guidance as well as lesson planning and implementation. 15 paid hours of annual professional development training plus CPR and First Aid training are paid for by us. CDA or early childhood education degree preferred. Pay is based on education and experience. Must be at least 18 and pass a background check. This position is available immediately.

About Strathmoor Preschool Education Center
We are a four star rated Kentucky All STARS facility excelling in early childhood education. We have learning centers for hands-on activities that help children discover new things. Centers include art, books, various blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, music, sand, science, and large motor skill development on the playground or in the gymnasium. We have educational activities that help children learn the alphabet and sounds of the letters , pre-reading skills, early concrete and abstract mathematical concepts, pre-writing and beginning handwriting, social studies, the days of the week, the months of the year, and the seasons. Social skills are developed through sharing, being kind to one another, taking turns, thinking, reasoning, and problem solving. Our classrooms have lots of bustle and noise. Children are talking, playing, and exploring. We create an environment and plan experiences in tune with young children's characteristics. Through direct interactive experiences, play, and exploration teachers help children to make new discoveries.

Duties

  • Lesson Planning according to Kentucky Standards and Benchmarks for infant/toddlers.
  • Manage a classroom of children.
  • Work in small groups for instruction.
  • Leading learning through play.
  • Follow center curriculum guidelines.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all children in the class.
  • Ensure children have snack/meals when required.
  • Assist children when toileting as needed.
  • Assist children when resting as needed.


Requirements

  • Must have at least a high school diploma.
  • Must be at least 18 or over.
  • Must have experience in a lead preschool teaching role.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.


Nice To Haves

  • Degree in early childhood development or other degree.
  • CDA
  • CPR/First Aide Certified
