JRDN Restaurant is Tower23 Hotel's 10,000 square foot award-winning contemporary oceanfront steak and seafood restaurant, featuring casually sophisticated cuisine for breakfast, lunch + dinner daily, and weekend brunch. The restaurant entices guests with a California-fresh menu that can be experienced in the modern lounge or on the oceanfront terrace.


JRDN Restaurant is currently seeking a full-time Banquet Chef to join our team! The ideal candidate will have experience working in a high-volume, up-market restaurant environment to continue the tradition of excellence and service for which JRDN is known.

 

We host a high volume of events, so we prefer applicants who have professional experience as well as an educational background in culinary arts. Your primary tasks in this role are to oversee kitchen staff, prepare banquet menu items while upholding portioning and plating standards, and effectively and efficiently manage the timing of banquet meals to ensure the contracted banquet timeline is met. You will also assist with menu development for each event, ensuring our kitchen is sufficiently staffed and stocked. You must enforce a high standard of quality at all times during food preparation as well as equipment sanitization.

Chef Qualifications:

  • Sous chef experience (1-2 years)
  • Catering experience a plus
  • Food handler card or certificate
  • Communication skills (English and Spanish a plus)
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods


Chef Duties and Responsibilities (this is a sampling and not an all-inclusive list of responsibilities):

  • Weekly meetings with the Sales and Catering team to go over past and upcoming events
  • Preparing banquet meals and food to meet the specifications of guests
  • Oversee the food production of each event to ensure contracted timing and food presentation is up to set standards
  • Uphold plating and portioning standards
  • Plan for event staffing needs
  • Order ingredients and maintain kitchen inventory
  • Enforce proper SSOP (sanitation standard operating procedures)
  • Step in to manage kitchen shifts as a Sous Chef when needed, and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef

 

Must have the availability and flexibility to work weekends and holidays. 

 

PAY RATE: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour (based upon experience)
